Self-Confidence is a Super Power

Just over three years ago, I had the luxury of meeting Sheena. And in November of 2015 she attended her first Group Training Session with us at Limitless Performance. Sheena was a go getter who contacted us on Friday and was in class on Monday pushing hard in her quiet way.

After her first class and the feeling of her sore muscles she had never felt before, I had a chance to chat with her regarding her goals she had set that she was excited about to help her yoga practice. The big ones being:

  • reducing body fat + weight
  • becoming leaner
  • developing a stronger physique
  • increasing endurance, stamina

This was the first time that I knew I was going to really like this girl.

a greater purpose

She didn’t just come in with a weight loss/body composition goal for FUN or just because she thought she needed to look better. She wanted to change her body composition in order to improve in a facet of her life that is important to her. So…

We developed a plan!

We worked one-on-one working on her nutrition, her habits, her technique, her strength and she continued pushing herself in her regular group training workouts as well. We met, we tracked and we modified each step of the way.

The goals spreadsheet looks good. Some are a little daunting, but I trust you and just need to give myself that extra push to meet them!

Sheena

As the months went by, Sheena saw some great results. She was pushing towards her body comp goal and getting stronger every day. And then her results came to a standstill. Actually, her body composition stats were going in the opposite direction of where we wanted them to be going.

After a serious chat about what was going on in her life, we decided that our check-ins and body composition goals were just going to have to be put on hold – stress being the culprit of her lack of results. Stress is not our friend when it comes to weight management. The cortisol, the exhaustion, the cravings all increase when stress is on the rise. So we took a break. 😁

Over the next little while, we focused on her workouts and Sheena made a plan to decrease that stress in her life. She was 100% into creating a “better me” and decided to put herself first before anything. Three months after she made this much needed change, things started to happen!!

I am so happy for your transition to your new job and the positive impact it is having on your goals and your confidence. ☺  I love that you feel stronger and fitter. That makes me happy! You rock!

Michelle – June 2017

After three months of hard work and dedication to her nutrition and seeing some great results, Sheena took a much needed break from the tracking and analyzing and entered into what we call a “maintenance phase”. She earned it! This meant less pressure to eat a specific way/number of calories and move the emphasis over to healthy habits and her workouts.

We have worked closely since but we haven’t taken an “All in” kind of approach since this time. Sheena has just been working hard every day and being so consistent with her workout routine and always challenging herself with new fitness goals. And yes – she is crushing it!!

And, a few days ago, I received this email… She hit her ultimate body comp goal of being under 20% body fat. And I couldn’t be more proud. Not necessarily for the number on the scale but proud of the mindset change since we started, proud of her effort, proud of her goals and going after them and proud to say that Sheena is a true representative of “Living The Fit Life”.

I’ve been meaning to send this your way, mainly because I consider this to be OUR success story as YOU continue to help educate, motivate and support my “better me” journey.
Our journey “officially” kicked off January 13th 2016. The stats below are from my first body comp weigh in until now.

This journey for Sheena, has been an eye opening experience. It has been as much of a mental challenge as it was a physical challenge.

So, what are the top 5 things she has learned so far?

  1. It is unsustainable (and dangerous) to have an all-or-nothing mindset.
  2. Stressful times can hinder your progress and sometimes there is absolutely nothing you can do other than recognize common symptoms and focus on managing them.
  3. Accomplishments build on each other. Figure out what small goals will get you to your big goals.
  4. Being healthier/fitter, makes me (and people around me) happier.
  5. And lastly, something I am still working on… self confidence is a super power!

Congrats to Sheena on Living the Fit Life and now Living A Better Life – one percent better every day.
